  • Our winning cricket team!

    Fri 16 Jun 2023

On 6th June our Year 5/6 cricket team took part in the Dynamo Cricket Tournament held at Bottisham Village College. They played 3 games and comfortably won all 3 of them. Organisers of the event commented on the skill of our players. We are now through to the final of this year's Cambridgeshire schools Dynamo Cricket competition. This will be a whole day event on a proper cricket pitch in Caldecote village. We can't wait!

  • Coronation Celebrations

    Fri 16 Jun 2023

On 5th May we celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III with our own Coronation. Mr Dave our caretaker became King Dave I and was welcomed into each class with pomp and ceremony and an array of thrones to test out. Everyone came to school 'dressed to impress' for the day, many wearing homemade nature crowns. The planned outdoor picnic became school's first ever whole school picnic in the hall due to the usual English weather. The day ended with our very own Cherry Hinton's Got Talent show.

  • ACT ACTIVE School in a Bag fundraising

    Thu 04 May 2023

On 29th March for ACT ACTIVE we picked up our school bags full of books and pens and a water bottle and ran and walked laps of the field to raise money for 'School in a Bag'. This is a charity that is sending backpacks out to school children in Turkey and Syria who have been affected by the earthquake. The backpacks contain everything a child might need to take to school. We raised £364 which will buy quite a lot of backpacks. Parents also joined us carrying their work bags.

  • Meet Joni our friendly dog who loves books

    Thu 04 May 2023

Joni visits us every other Tuesday afternoon to sit and listen to children read stories to her. She is wonderful to stroke, listens really well and is great company. Her owner Helen Carson enjoys hearing readers too and volunteers in school through a charity called 'Dogs as Therapy'.

  • 10.2.23 Parents enjoy ACT ACTIVE and STAY and PLAY

    Wed 03 May 2023

There were lots of parents at the school gate at 8.30 ready to wake up by doing laps of the school field as part of ACT ACTIVE to earn extra house points for their child. Lots of you then stayed to enjoy reading in class. After expending all that physical and mental energy, there was chance to relax with a cuppa and chat with Ms Haiselden and Miss Louise.

  • 9.12.22 Advent Stay and Play

    Thu 05 Jan 2023

Over 40 parents, from Nursery to Year 6, joined us for Advent Stay and Play. Parents and children worked together to make decorations for the class Christmas tree and also to take home. Some of the activities included Brussel sprout pom-poms, paper plate Christmas trees and the longest paperchains possible.

    It was a joyous morning with everyone having fun together. Here is some of the feedback from parents;

'It has been a privilege and an opportunity to be able to spend time to make Christmas decorations. Re-lived the festive season and the warm feeling of togetherness. What Christmas really is.'

'I love spending time with my daughter and making memories for us to hang on our tree.'

'Smiles on everyone's faces. It's a nice event where parents and kids spend time together at school.'

Here are some photos of parents and children working together.

    Thu 05 Jan 2023

We entered two tournaments this month. Years 4/5/6 took part in the cross country tournament at Netherhall school. Our team had been training hard during ACT ACTIVE as well as in their own free time. Impressive!

Year 5/6 also entered a dodgeball and table tennis competition at Coleridge school. One of our teams won the dodgeball competition and we have a glass trophy to prove it! We also won individual second place and third place medals for table tennis. We haven't won a trophy or medals for a long time!

  • 18.11.22 A visit from South Sudan; James Kepo, Principal Yei Teacher Training College, South Sudan

    Mon 21 Nov 2022

Visit from James Kepo, Principal, Yei Teacher Training College (YTTC), South Sudan

James has been a leader for education in the South Sudan region for over 20 years and his institution is the only functioning teacher training college in the country, a country where the majority of teachers are untrained volunteers. James had lunch with the children, toured the school, ran ACT ACTIVE , gave a presentation to the whole school and answered lots of questions from the children. He picked up immediately on the family feel and the love we have for the children. It was a proud moment for Ms Haiselden to invite her friend and former colleague into school- she knows YTTC very well herself. Below are some photos from the day. A copy of James' presentation and his thank you letter can be found
