  • Children's Mental Health Week - Let's Get Muddy!

    Wed 14 Feb 2024

Friday 9th February saw the children come in to school with wellies, towels and a change of clothes as we explored and celebrated how liberating it can be to get muddy on purpose! This was all in aid of getting in touch with our well-being and to discover fresh ways to feel good about ourselves. The rain of the previous few days meant there was no shortage of mud! Miss Louise prepared our mud play area and filled up the mud bath. Year 5 enjoyed, quite literally, taking a bath. Other experiences for the children included making mud sculptures, sliding on the school field, mud painting, decorating trees trunks with mud faces and of course face painting. Several children were heard exclaiming, 'This is the best day ever!'

  • Visitor from Japan

    Fri 12 Jan 2024

Aoi came to school yesterday. She is from Fukuyama in Japan but is over here studying English at St. Andrew's University. Her family are good friends of Ms Haiselden from the time she spent teaching in Japan. Aoi spent time in Yrs 2 and 4. Aoi drew some comparisons with the Japanese education system. She loved our school lunch. She was amazed that the government fund 1:1 TAs. She also admired how pupils here are active not passive learners and also how we value each child's individuality.

  • 7th November Diversity Day

    Thu 09 Nov 2023

This year's theme for Diversity Day was Hopes and Dreams. Parents were invited in to share their experiences growing up in different countries and cultures. Children were asked to think about what they want to be when they grow up and the kind of person they wish to be. Year 4 in particular looked at the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals and how they might contribute to achieving them. In the afternoon over 40 parents (23% of our families) came in for Stay and Play.

Among the experiences on offer to the children were to learn a Hungarian folk dance, hear a Ghanaian folk tale, dance to a Polish song, compare the English and Welsh alphabets, learn some Marahti and to hear from a TA about growing up in Afghanistan. Enjoy the photos.
