Reading in Year 1

Reading with your child for even a few minutes every day helps them to develop their love of books and reading- as well as their confidence in learning in other subjects.

What books will children bring home each week?

  • A fully decodable ebook assigned per week on the  Collins Hub website for children to read at home (log in provided).
  • Another book from the school library which is for pleasure and for sharing- it is vital that children experience a wide range of other quality children’s books that are either read to or with them. These books play an essential role in developing a love of reading. Research shows that reading books to your child has a major impact on their future reading ability

Please encourage your child to read  their ereading book regularly and bring in their reading record to school every day
