How to Help

You can support your child's maths learning at home by:

• Having 'Maths Eyes' - spot and discuss maths in real life and the world around us - this includes number, measure, shape, pattern, and more!
• Practise key maths facts to help improve recall (see below).
• Play maths games together, such as the ones here and here.

Practising Number Facts

Your child has a Times Tables Rockstars account, which they can use to build fluency and confidence with key number facts. Please speak to us if you can't find this.

Times tables games - Learn them all here! This is a website that has a step-by-step approach to learning tables and has games to reinforce them.

Additionally, children can practise away from a device using any of the following strategies:

• count in multiples forwards and backwards e.g. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10... and 25,  20, 15, 10 ...
• quick recall questions e.g. 2 x 3 = ...., 18 ÷ 2 = ...
• Times Tables Bingo - Children write down six multiples from the times table they are focusing on. An adult then says questions from that times table. If the answer on the child's Bingo grid matches the question from the adult, they cross it off! Miss Hnat is more than happy to explain this in more detail and give a demonstration!
